Know Your Chair Vocabulary

Though the terms may seem obvious, it's important to know your Herman Miller vocabulary when purchasing your Aeron chair. In addition to knowing what the words mean, you should also have a good understanding of what features you want your chair to have.

Starting with the basics, it's important to know the different chair sizes where you fit in on the spectrum. If you're going to spend money on a new (or refurbished) office chair, you want to make sure that it's the perfect fit. The Herman Miller Aeron comes in 3 sizes - A (smallest size), B (middle size), and C (biggest size). See the chart below to figure out the perfect size chair for you.Screen Shot 2015-01-15 at 11.40.39 AM

Next, you want to figure out which back support option is best for you - the lumbar pad or the posture fit. PostureFit and Lumbar support are two totally different options. While the Lumbar Pad hits the L4 lumbar regions of the back, which doctors say is the area of the back that they most frequently operate on, the X-shaped support on the PostureFit is good for lower back pain. The best way to decide on the proper back support for you is to pinpoint the region on your back in which you most need to alleviate the pain and choose the back support based on that. We also recommend trying out the different chair models before making your decision.

Lastly, it's important to know your chair's various features such as the forward and rear tilt locks, the tension nob, and the up and down nob. Some of these features are standard on every Aeron chair, yet some are add ons. Make sure you know which features are most meaningful to you and purchase your chair accordingly!
