What To Look For in an Ergonomic Chair - Part II: Seat Material

Looking for the right seat material is often an overlooked consideration. However, seat material is one of the most important decisions that you can make. While there is a lot to consider, check out these tips to help simplify the process.

Comfort is key.

Comfort is the obvious first consideration. If you don't like the way that the chair feels, it's not going to be a good fit. If you find yourself often getting hot, look for a seat with a soft plastic seat. If those are a little bit too hard for you, consider one made of mesh or a softer padding material. All in all, the only way to make a bad choice is to pick a chair that you don't find comfortable.

Looks aren't everything

Don't be scared off just because your chair doesn't look exactly how you want it to look. There is a lot more to a chair than the way that it looks; remember, the most important thing is the way the chair fits your needs. Is it improving back pain? Improving comfort? Focus on these issues before you make an issue just based on the way that a product looks.

Try before you buy.

You'll only know what you like once you actually try it out. Some people think that they like mesh, but when they walk into the store they find that they actually like plastic. Don't be afraid to stop into stores and try out different versions and models of chairs -- it'll be one of the best decisions you make.
