You probably have not heard of people training before going on a European vacation. But if you want to visit the most Instagrammable locations and best restaurants without looking too sweaty in your pictures, prepare for long walks, arduous climbs and lines. Here are some simple ways to get your body ready so that you will enjoy your trip.

  1. Speed walk around your neighborhood between noon and 3 p.m.

Get to know your neighborhood a little better while getting fit! At the hottest time of the day, put on your favorite tourist sandals and time yourself. It may seem embarrassing and tiring now, but when you have 10 minutes to get from the Uffizi to the Boboli Gardens, you'll thank yourself. Bonus points if you practice using the "maps" app for walking directions.

2. Climb the stairs instead of taking the elevator.

This is one of the oldest tricks in the book that will be especially useful in Europe. When people take nice panoramic shots of European cities from above, they most likely had to climb hills or narrow staircases to get there. If you practice everyday, climbing to the top of Il Duomo or the Eiffel Tower will be a breeze.

3. Stand up for hours at a time.

Whether you are walking around Paris or standing in line to tour the Palace in Madrid, you'll be standing. Stand up while watching T.V. or checking your emails. You can even get a sit to stand desk or at least a desktop riser so that you won't waste precious training time while at the office. If you don't want to wait in lines at every monument, purchase vouchers online ahead of time. You can even get discounts if you buy in bulk.

  1. Get comfortable in confined spaces

Not only is everything in Europe smaller, but you'll also most likely be going on multiple flights. You'll long for some breathable mesh or lumbar support, but all you'll get is pleather. If you want to get the most rest in between cities, practice keeping your neck still or hugging your legs so that you can get some sleep for the next day. You'll probably wake up with some back pain but no pain no gain, right?

Follow these tips to look and feel better on your trip. You and your Instagram feed will thank you.
